Mila Kunis movies reviewed: Sandy Kenyon Delivers Captivating Reviews of ‘Jupiter Ascending’ and ‘Seventh Son
NEW YORK, NY (WABC) — This weekend at theaters, Mila Kunis is taking on villains from another planet. She’s teaming up with Channing Tatum in the new movie “Jupiter Ascending.”
But Eyewitness News entertainment reporter Sandy Kenyon says this story about the universe doesn’t do some of its stars justice.
At a cost of more than $200 million, “Jupiter Ascending” has gotten a lot of buzz for its special effects.
It tells the story of Jupiter Jones (Kunis), a house cleaner from Chicago who is retrieved by an alien (Tatum) for a mission she is destined for.
Sandy says that the powerful chemistry of the two stars is the only reason to see the movie.
And Eddie Redmayne’s turn as the villain could possibly hurt his chances to win an Oscar for his work in “The Theory of Everything.”
Julianne Moore could suffer a similar fate for her work in “Seventh Son,” also opening this weekend.
Moore plays a witch in a movie so terrible, Sandy says, that it has sat on the shelf for two and a half years.
Moore is a favorite to win the Best Actress Oscar for “Still Alice,” but some of her fans worry about the co-called “Norbit effect,” named after a movie starring Eddie Murphy.
That movie came out just before the 2007 Oscars show, and critics slammed it. Some in Hollywood still feel that might have cost Murphy the trophy for “Dreamgirls” that year.
